so close

He wants to crawl. He tries to crawl. So close, but not quite there. Dylan is becoming quite strong. He's growing so fast. He has recently started lifting himself up on all fours. All fours as in elbows and knees. He rocks himself back and forth as if getting momentum to go somewhere. It's so cute. He hasn't done any real crawling so far, but he sure gets around. Just like Tyler did when he was five months, Dylan gets where he wants to go by rolling. It does him well for now but distracts him from crawling. As soon as he gets himself up in the crawling position, he uses his lower body to flip himself over and roll. I guess it'll all just click one day. All of a sudden. Those pictures will be next! But until then I'll sit back and watch him rock back and forth gaining momentum for that big day!

quaint new hat

As you can see, Victoria and Tyler, have come up with a new invention. Victoria is Tyler's friend. She was over playing one day and saw his baseball mitt on the floor. I'm not sure if she actually knew what it was, but decided it looked like a pretty nice hat. After she put the mitt on her head, Tyler had to try the other on for size. PERFECT fit!

They are currently working on the patent for "baseball mitt hats". Look for them in stores near you - SOON!

paternal instincts

Two year olds copy everything you do, everything you say and the way in which it's said. I have been a witness to this for a while now. Tyler copies friends and family who come over to our house. He'll sit like they sit, talk like they talk and want to eat whatever they're eating (surprise there, huh?). He copies guests just like he copies Daddy and Me on a daily basis.

More recently Tyler has shown a strong interest in being a Daddy to one of his stuffed animals (monkey). Okay, correction, he's really shown interest in being 'Mommy' to one of 'my' stuffed animals. I think he acts like 'Mommy' because he watches me all day. He's not out all day with Daddy at work watching what he does; Therefore he copies Me. I think it's adorable but Daddy thinks some things are going a bit too far. One thing, for example, is when Tyler decides it's time to feed Monkey. He watches brother nurse everyday and thinks that is how a baby is fed. I have been teaching Tyler to use a bottle to feed monkey (because that's how "Daddies" feed their babies).

It's fun to see him copy and learn how things are done in our world. It's also an eye opener to realize you have to teach them EVERY LITTLE THING. But it's extremely fun sewing into his little life, knowing that one day all these little things he learns (i.e. how to feed his baby with a bottle) will be used in the "real world". Then again, there are going to be things along the road that he'll copy and learn that you hope wont be retained or repeated. I think anyone who has (or has had) a two year old can relate with me!

undivided attention

Tyler went over to Uncle David and Auntie Tyla's house on Thrusday. There he was able to play with his cousin Jaidyn and get some quality time in with Auntie and Uncle. Saturday he left their house to spend the rest of the weekend with Me-Maw and Paw-Paw. They took Tyler to see his second Aunt & Uncle on grandma's side of the family (Papa-Don and Aunt Jan). From the sound of it he had a BLAST! He was kind and well mannered while he was away. Which made us so proud!

With Tyler being away for so long, it gave Daddy and me plenty of time to miss him like crazy! And although we missed him tremendously, we enjoyed the time we were able to devote to Dylan. Dylan was able to have our undivided attention which is (obviously) not the norm. After all, we split our time between two cuties. The alone time with Dylan was much needed and seemed to fly by FAR too fast. Just as the past months have. He's now four months old, 28.5 inches tall and 18.5 lbs. He's our BIG boy. I call him gigantor on occasions (for a reason). He's currently wearing 9 month clothes (with the exception of a few single piece 6 month outfits). So Dylan has proven thus far to be a bigger baby than Tyler. Only time will tell whether or not he'll be bigger as a toddler too. Daddy hopes they're both huge.

it's a bird...it's a plane...no, it's...

Another day at home with the kiddos. Nothing out of the ordinary. The boys had been napping and I was getting a few last minute things done. Then all of a sudden my door bell rang. Funny cause I wasn't expecting anyone. I answered the door to see David's mom standing there. I was surprised to say the least! The reason being that she's from Portland, OR. We had no clue she was contemplating coming down and it's a pretty long drive to take on a 'whim'. She didn't even know if we'd be home.

The boys were able to spend almost a week with grandma. Tyler enjoyed grandmas company and her dog who came to visit as well. They went on walks together to take the dog potty. They saw dragon flies, a praying mantis and a bird who had made a nest in a little tree by the playground. Tyler loves going to the park but going everyday with grandma was the icing on the cake. He wanted to be everywhere she was, do everything she was doing and (of course) eat everything she ate.

Grandma felt as though she needed some time with the boys (who would blame her?!). But I'm thinking Tyler needed the time as much as she did. He was on cloud nine the whole time! Seeing him hang out, play and constantly be so excited while she was here really excites me to imagine him and Dylan playing together. It wont be long. I bet he can't wait till next time to see grandma again!

awesome daddy

I love family time. I love my boys. I love having a husband who looks forward to spending time with his kids. He is an awesome Daddy! My boys are blessed.

It's boggling to me how a man can be a great father and mate when he didn't have a father figure (as a role model) growing up. Goes to show that God is able to do ANYTHING! God has taken a broken, lost, angry young man and turned him into someone truly amazing.

My children will one day admire their Father's choice to follow in obedience. They'll understand what an amazing God they serve and I trust they'll choose the same. I love my God, for many reasons, but also for blessing me in more abundant ways then I would have ever imagined. He is so awesome!
